Arizona Ag Tour

More than 90 sheep producers participated in the Arizona Agriculture Tour, where they were treated to shearing day at the Auza Ranch. Joe, Carmen, Joseph and Tammy Auza welcomed producers from across the country as they talked about their operation. The ewes had lambed and were grazing on 40-acre sized alfalfa fields contained by electric fencing and tended to by guard dogs and sheepherders.

The next stop on the Arizona Ag Tour was the Caywood Cotton Farm. The tour included an informative presentation about cotton and its long journey from seed to fiber, a cotton picker demonstration, exploration of a cotton field and actually picking cotton. Water-shortage challenges plague the area, resulting in the Caywoods only being able to produce cotton on a small portion of their total acreage.
