The 2026 ASI Photo Contest is now open, and ASI is once again inviting farmers, ranchers, and photographers to share the images that best capture the sheep industry. But pay attention when entering, as the categories have changed for 2026. Winning entries will be featured in the September issue of the magazine.
This year’s contest includes four categories:
• Scenic (West)
• Scenic (East)
• Working Dogs and Protection Animals
• Open
CATEGORY DETAILS
Scenic (East): Sheep outdoors east of the Mississippi River. No people allowed.
Scenic (West): Sheep outdoors west of the Mississippi River. No people allowed.
Working Dogs and Protection Animals: Herding dogs, livestock guardian dogs, or other protection animals in their natural environments. Photos must include sheep.
Open: Any subject matter not covered in the other categories.
CONTEST RULES
• ASI can use or reproduce all entries at its discretion. Entries will not be returned.
• ASI is not required to notify photographers when photos are used in materials.
• Photographs can only be submitted electronically.
• All entries should be submitted in the largest file sizes possible in JPG, TIFF or PNG formats.
• Entries must be submitted in the name of the person who took the photograph.
• Entries are limited to two per category, per person.
• Only photographs taken in the past 3 years are eligible.
• Photographs submitted in previous years cannot be re-entered.
EACH SUBMISSION MUST INCLUDE:
- Photo title
- Category
- Photographer’s name
- Mailing address
- Phone number
- Email address
- Approximate location and date of the photo
- Optional: Story or background on the image
Submit your best images by 5 p.m. MT on July 31, 2026 to [email protected] and put “2026 ASI Photo Contest” in the subject line.
