Belt Buckle Commemorates ASI’s 150th Anniversary
A one-of-a-kind silver belt buckle has been crafted and will be part of a special auction to benefit the Sheep Heritgage Foundation and celebrate ASI’s 150th Anniversary during the ASI Annual Convention in Reno, Nevada in January.
The buckle, created by artist Jack Cohn of Montana, depicts a horned ram. The image was chosen to represent a ram from the period when the sheep industry organization was formed.
Included on the buckle are the dates “1865-2015,” which represent the 150 years. The dates are engraved into the design surrounding the image.
The buckle, funded by states in ASI’s Region 1, will be in its own presentation box with the ASI “Heritage” Logo laser engraved into the lid. It will be offered at an auction that will include a hand-crafted bracelet by former U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell and limited ASI rifles produced by Henry Repeating Arms.
The idea for the belt buckle came about shortly after the 2014 ASI convention closed. Directors from Region I met to discuss the prospect of donating an item for the special auction. Cohn was eventually commissioned to create the unique buckle.
