ASI Wool Council Recommends FY 2019 Budget
June 29, 2018

The American Wool Council of the American Sheep Industry Association met in Denver this week with the top priority of setting budget recommendations for Fiscal Year 2019.

Among the topics of discussion were new funding priorities for the Let’s Grow Program and the availability of wool presses to support the packaging and marketing of American wool. The group also toured Yocom-McColl Testing Laboratories in Denver, which handles wool quality testing for producers and manufacturers. The council intends to include wool measurement in its priorities for FY 2019.

Due to additional funding requests, one area where funding was restructured is the Quality Improvement Program. However, the funding remains adequate to continue support of wool classing, handling and shearing schools throughout the United States as the association has identified ways to reduce costs in this area. ASI has funded such programs for more than 25 years, and will continue to support quality improvement programs that contribute to the success of producing American wool.
