ASI Supports Prompt Consideration of Farm Bill
April 13, 2018
The House Committee on Agriculture released the 2018 Farm Bill this week (H.R. 2, the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018) and the American Sheep Industry Association is calling for prompt consideration of the bill in Washington, D.C.
“Key provisions important to America’s sheep producers, including trade promotion, infrastructure and research will expire this fall with the current Farm Bill,” wrote ASI President Mike Corn of New Mexico in a letter to leaders of the committee. “ASI is the national voice of America’s sheep producers, and we strongly support enactment of H.R. 2 this year.”
ASI testified before the committee in 2017 with priorities to also include risk management and animal health. Read more about ASI’s position on the Farm Bill at https://www.sheepusa.org/Issues_AsiPositions.
House Agriculture Committee Chairman Michael Conaway (Texas) announced the committee will markup the Farm Bill on Wednesday, April 18.
