O’Hare to Hire Goats and Sheep
May 10, 2013

The Chicago Department of Aviation has awarded a contract for sustainable grazing services to Chicago-based Central Commissary Holdings, LLC, to allow O’Hare International Airport to put 25 goats, a supervising shepherd and possibly some sheep to use, according to NBC Chicago.
The animals are expected to start work in about a month after enough foliage has grown at four airport sites where they will graze.
The contract runs through the end of next year and calls for a maximum payment of $100,000 to Central Commissary Holdings.
The aviation department said the pilot program will provide a way to trim costs and make the airport more sustainable and eco-friendly.
