Focusing solely on the U.S. sheep industry, the Sheep Heritage Foundation - a 501(c)3 charitable foundation - is dedicated to enhancing the value of the sheep industry in the United States. It was established to create programs and projects that will assure solid opportunites for the future of the U.S. sheep industry.
Projects:
The Foundation has long worked with scholarships for graduate students who commit to sheep production in their advance studies and research. This helps provide leaders in the animal science and research community to include sheep production.
The Sheep Ecology Project is also a top priority for the Foundation. This project focuses on prescriptive grazing with sheep to control invasive palnts - a biological control of noxious weeks - rather than use of chemicals, reforestation, restoration and fire control.
