December 5, 2003
Dec. 5, 2003 -- Convention registration forms will be hitting mailboxes this weekend. There are a number of tours/workshops scheduled on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, for you to be involved in that do have maximum occupancy restrictions and will be filled on a first-come basis.
Full-Day Industry Tour gives you an opportunity to be a guest of Superior Farms for a tour of its state-of-the-art lamb processing facility as well as enjoy a tasty lunch donated by Superior Farms. The next stop is the Hamilton Family Farm, where participants will get to view this diversified/progressive sheep operation and participate in various workshops. The day will be capped off with an evening lamb barbeque and silent auction.
Half-Day California Tour begins at noon and takes you to nearby Plymouth Wine Country to enjoy vineyard tours and tasting rooms. This group will meet up with the full-day tour for the evening lamb barbeque and silent auction.
Top-Maker for a Day Workshop allows participants to develop an understanding of how wool performs through the combing process and the effect this has on the price of wool. The day will involve purchasing wool at a mock auction and then assessing its performance against price by way of computer analysis. Participants compete against other teams in both the sale of the wool top as well as the purchasing of raw wool. Put yourself in the shoes of a top-maker like Chargeurs, ADF, BWK or Michelle International for a day.
Schedule Changes have occurred since the printing of the registration form. They include: NSIIC will be meeting on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. instead of on Tuesday and Wednesday; ALB will be adding an additional half day of meetings on Sunday morning; and Western Range will not be meeting on Sunday.
Be sure to return your registration form to ASI as soon as possible. Forms can also be printed from the ASI Web site at:
