Pre-Convention Scrapie Workshop

Dec. 5, 2003 -- Convention participants may wish to arrive in Sacramento in time to attend a National Scrapie Eradication Program Information Session. The U.S. Department of Agriculture?s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA/APHIS), in conjunction with the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI), will be conducting the first of a series of national meetings in regional locations on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Sacramento.

The information session is open to all producers at no charge. Dr. Diane Sutton, national scrapie program coordinator, and Stephanie Kordick, Eastern Region scrapie epidemiologist, will be presenting the following topics -- the current status of the Scrapie Eradication Program and the vision for the future of the program. They have also allotted ample time to receive input from producers regarding the program.

Take the opportunity to interact with the federal scrapie eradication program officials and let your voice be heard on Wednesday, Jan. 21, prior to the ASI convention.
