Nov. 07, 2003 -- Producers who applied for feeder, slaughter or retained ewe-lamb payments by the July 31 deadline should now have their payments. The books for the Lamb Meat Adjustment Assistance Program (LMAAP) will soon be closed out.
?If you applied by the deadline but have not received payment, you should check with your local FSA office immediately,? stated Peter Orwick, American Sheep Industry (ASI) executive director.
?On the related issue of the ASI request to extend the retained ewe-lamb payments, we continue to communicate with USDA in regard to a decision. I remain positive that the decision on the retained ewe-lamb extension will be made this fall,? added Orwick. ?Feeder and slaughter lambs are not part of the request.?
USDA provided $8 million in additional funding to cover the eligible LMAAP applications filed by the July 31 deadline.
