Special Edition of Sheep Industry News Rolls off the Press

Oct. 31, 2003 -- Copies of a special edition of Sheep Industry News will soon be hitting mailboxes nationwide. The 24-page, expanded edition contains several feature stories on topics such as the Sheep Safety and Quality Assurance Program, Scrapie Surveillance Study, Dakota Lamb Growers Cooperative and numerous American Lamb Board activities.

Also included in the annual report-type tabloid are an expanded lamb and wool market report; an overview of the international wool market by Chris Wilcox, chief economist, The Woolmark Co.; a legislative update by Legislative Action Council Co-chair Janet Mawhinney; and an overview of the September 2003 Tri Lamb Summit by ASI President Guy Flora.

Readers also will be treated to a two-page spread of historical articles and ads from 1932, 1933, 1939 and 1940 National Wool Grower magazines; a short story on the upcoming Conference on Grazing Lands in Nashville; and a state-by-state breakdown of the $140 million in various government payments issued to industry members over the past five years.
