Oct. 17, 2003 -- The American Textile Manufacturer?s Association (ATMI) and National Textile Association (NTA) reported this week that the unified industry group has added 16 new signatures to the China Congressional letter, bringing the total to 130 U.S. senators and representatives thus far.
The letter to President Bush urges the government to block China loopholes in a China America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA), to approve China textile safeguard requests and to maintain textile tariffs during the current round.
?The American Sheep Industry Association and state associations spent the week encouraging legislators to support U.S. wool textile companies by signing the China Safeguard letter,? stated Peter Orwick, ASI executive director. ?The letter will continue to circulate for signatures through next week, so I would like to recommend that you continue contacting your delegations and encourage their support for the textile industry.?
