Burlington Receives Contract

On October 1, the Defense Supply Center in Philadelphia (DSCP) announced that Burlington Apparel Fabrics, Greensboro, N.C., had been awarded a $5.5 million firm fixed price contract for 500,000 linear yards of U.S. Air Force serge fabric. This fabric is 55 percent worsted wool and 45 percent polyester and is used exclusively in the Air Force's dress uniforms. The contract will consume approximately 170,000 pounds of clean wool, grade 64's and finer. The work on this contract will be performed at plants in Raeford, Cordova and Hurt, N.C. Performance completion date is expected to be Dec. 23, 2004. DSCP solicited proposals from 31 sources with Burlington being the only company to respond.
