Consumers are very interested in the safety of the food they eat as well as the quality of the products they buy. Quality and product safety are issues the industry and its producers are accountable to.
The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) and Colorado State University developed the Sheep Safety and Quality Assurance (SSQA) program to ensure that consumer products generated by the U.S. sheep industry are safe and of the highest quality possible. Experts from around the country have completed a ?train-the-trainer? program and are now conducting sessions for producers in the industry.
ASI encourages state associations to include an SSQA training session for its members as part of the agenda for their local meeting. Participants can complete Level One training is just a couple of hours. Associations can contact the ASI office at 3030-771-3500 to obtain materials as well as a list of qualified trainers.
