Fellowship Winner Announced
Raluca Mateescu has been awarded the National Wool Growers Memorial Fellowship through the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI). The fellowship is designed to assist in the advancement of the sheep, lamb and wool industries.
Raluca will be attending Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she will work toward her Ph.D. Her research will center around experiments to find DNA markers for both aseasonal breeding and increased milk production in sheep. This effort could be a great benefit by helping the sheep industry address two long-standing research priorities.
ASI would like to thank all applicants who applied for the 2003-2004 fellowship. The field of applicants showed a lot of depth and promise for the industry, presenting research topics which covered a variety of aspects of sheep, lamb and wool.
