May 2, 2008 -- At a recent trade show, a member of a branch office of the Animal Agriculture Alliance was handing out items promoting the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), with $2 per item going to support the vegan activist group. When approached about their support of HSUS, the staff indicated that they believed they were benefiting the national group that supports local shelters, unaware that less than 3 percent of HSUS' nearly $90 million budget goes to animal shelters.
When informed that HSUS is the main funding source behind many anti-animal agriculture activities, including the gestation crate bans in Florida and Arizona, the ballot initiative in California and much more, the staff immediately stopped distributing the items. It is our belief that most people reading this have a solid idea of the agenda of HSUS, PETA and other similar groups. However, many others may not. Please help spread the word to others.
