ASAS Announces 2003 Award Winners

The American Society of Animal Science recently announced its 2003 award winners. Among those honored at the ASAS annual meeting, held June 23, 2003, in Phoenix were:
  • Dr. David L. Thomas, professor, University of Wisconsin-Madison, who was recognized for his research program in the genetic improvement of sheep. Thomas received The Rockefeller Prentice Memorial Award in Animal Breeding and Genetics, sponsored by ABS Global, Inc.
  • Dr. Robert G. Zimbelman, who received the Distinguished Support of Animal Science Award.
  • Dr. James Oltjen, cooperative Extension specialist, University of California, who received an ASAS Extension Award for his outstanding contributions to animal science extension, sponsored by Pfizer Animal Health.
  • Dr. Keith Belk, professor, Colorado State University, who was recognized for his research excellence in meat science with an award by Elanco Animal Health.
