June 2005 -- Attendance at the Annual American Lamb Barbeque exceeded all expectations this year. More than 170 guests and industry leaders dined on a menu centered-around flavorful American lamb chops grilled to perfection.
As tradition would have it, Rick and Larry Meyers and Fran Boyd of Meyers and Associates, took charge of the meal preparation with the assistance, this year, of Jay Wilson, executive director of the National Sheep Industry Improvement Center.
Honored guests included: Sen. Craig Thomas (R-Wyo.), member of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee; Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), ranking member on the House Agriculture Committee; deputy secretary of agriculture, Charles F. Conner; Chuck Lambert, deputy undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs; and Thomas Dorr, acting undersecretary of Rural Development.
The lamb for the barbeque was donated by Joe Casper of Swissland Meat in Ashkum, Ill.
