The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has extended the due date for Scrapie Flock Certification Program (SFCP) participants with Complete Monitored or Certified flocks to notify Veterinary Services (VS) of their intent to remain in the SFCP and in which category they will participate. The new due date for making an election is Monday, Nov. 18. Producers in these programs who do not inform VS of their intent to remain in the program by Nov. 18 will be removed from the program and must re-enroll as new flocks if they wish to continue in the program. Flocks that are removed from the program will no longer appear on the APHIS website.
Flock owners currently enrolled in the Select and Export categories are not required to notify VS of their intent to remain in the program; it is assumed that these flocks will continue to participate in their current category.
Additional information about the revised SFCP is available at www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/animal_diseases/scrapie/free-certi.shtml. A list of VS offices is available at www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_health/area_offices.
