Wool Recognition Lunch. Chris Lupton, Ph.D. (Texas), a leader in American wool research and promotion will receive the prestigious American Wool Council Wool Excellence Award at the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI)/National Lamb Feeders Association Annual Convention, taking place Jan. 23-26 in San Antonio, Texas. The sheep industry will be given an opportunity to recognize Lupton for his service to the industry during this event. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance by contacting the ASI office at 303-771-3500.
Having given nearly 40 years of service to the American sheep industry, Lupton is being recognized for his many contributions to the industry and research.
eXtention Producer Roundtable. Land-grant universities perform multiple and varied outreach functions for the agriculture community. As part of the schedule for the upcoming sheep convention in San Antonio, an eXtension Roundtable General Session will be held on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. eXtension is an interactive learning environment that delivers the best and most current research-based and trustworthy knowledge from land-grant universities across the country. Information about the newly designed sheep resource area within this system will be presented. Topics include sheep management practices, markets, producer profiles, feed efficiency and genetic selection to name just a few. There is also an "Ask an Expert" section where experts will answer producer questions from around the country.
