Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced appointments to the National Sheep Industry Improvement Center board of directors. The center was established to improve the competitiveness of the U.S. sheep and goat industries.
The reappointed board members include Janet Mawhinney, Waynesburg, Pa., representing sheep and goat producers, and Glen Fisher, Sonora, Texas, representing expertise in finance and management. Both appointees will serve three-year terms.
The American Sheep Industry Association nominated both members to Secretary Vilsack this summer and is very appreciative of the appointments. The center recently closed the application period for grants for 2011-2012.
