The U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC) in Clay Center, Neb., has scheduled its sheep education program and sale for Friday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 8. Both days begin at 9 a.m.
The topics for the Friday education session include ovine progressive pneumonia, easy-care sheep and low-input production systems. Speakers include Drs. Shuna Jones, Carol Chitko-McKown, Mike Heaton, Mike Clawson and Kreg Leymaster.
The Saturday on-site auction of breeding sheep will include approximately 170 head of Romanov crossbred ewes and 23 head of mature and yearling rams.
Sheep are offered for sale by USMARC in partnership with the University of Nebraska. Sale animals are a select group across all age ranges with good production records that have completed their usefulness to the research center.
