Support MAP

June 15, 2012
The U.S. Senate is expected to vote today on Sen. Coburn's (Okla.) amendment that would reduce funding for the Market Access Program (MAP) by $40 million annually (to $160 million per year) and would put other restrictions on the use of program funds.

The American Sheep Industry Association, along with more than 60 other agriculture groups, sent a letter to the members of the Senate Agriculture Committee urging strong opposition to the Coburn amendment.

MAP is a cost-effective program that has helped to maintain and expand U.S. agriculture exports, protect and create American jobs, strengthen farm income and offset the government-supported financial advantages afforded international competitors.
