The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service published additional requirements and specification for its purchase of frozen lamb products. The American Sheep Industry Association secured approval for $2 million of USDA purchases. The program complements the specifications of the program such as required certifications that confirm it is American product. Shoulder chops and leg roasts are the specific cuts that will be offered to lamb companies to bid for production and distributed to food banks.
