This is a reminder that nominations to the American Lamb Board (ALB) for next year are due to the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) by Friday, May 18. Two positions held by sheep producers are up for appointment next year: one for a producer who owns 101-500 head annually and one for a producer who owns more than 500 head annually. One of the nominees must be from Region 2 -- west of the Mississippi River.
The two producer-director positions for which nominations are needed are those of Betty Sampsel (Mont.) and Alicia Dredge (Idaho). Sampsel represents producers who own 101-500 head annually and is eligible to be re-nominated to the board. Dredge represents producers with more than 500 head and is also eligible for re-nomination.
Those interested in being considered producer nominees to this board should contact their state sheep producer association, ASI director, regional representative or the ASI office. ASI is required to nominate at least two producers for each position.
Other positions up for appointment include one feeder and one first handler. Dan Lippert (Minn.), feeder, and Reed Anderson (Ore.), first handler, are both eligible to be re-nominated to the board. Interested feeders should contact the National Lamb Feeders Association and first handlers can contact their meat organizations.
