WTO Opens COOL Appeal to Public

In a historical step, the World Trade Organization (WTP) will open to the pubic the oral hearing phase in the appeal of earlier rulings by a panel in the disputes WT/DS384 and WT/DS386: "United States -- Certain Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) Requirements."

In a notice posted on its website, WTO said seating for the May 2-3 hearing will be limited, and prior registration is required.

"The oral hearing is expected to start at 9:30 a.m. on May 2. The public viewing will take place through a real-time, closed-circuit television broadcast in a separate room. The hearing will continue at 9:30 on May 3," WTO explained.
