Why are you an ASI Guard Dog member? ?We are aware of the millions of dollars that ASI has been instrumental in securing for the U.S. sheep industry, and realized how important those dollars have been to our local producers ? and ourselves as a business dependant on the sheep industry.?
How do you think the industry has benefited from the Guard Dog funds? ?The Guard Dog fund has been vital to ASI as it works on our behalf. The positive benefits that our industry has received from the 201 trade action, particularly the ewe-lamb retention program, the wool loan program, the sheep center and ensuring that sheep are included in the livestock assistance programs, are enormous ? and the list goes on beyond these programs.?
What are the industry?s needs in the future? ?Well, first people are in the sheep business to make a profit. It is imperative that ASI be a strong effective organization which protects our interests, and works on the issues that affect our ability to generate such a profit. The partners of Roswell Wool want to see the optimism of the American sheep industry continue. We feel that ASI is such an important part of this that we encourage our fellow sheep producers to join us as Guard Dogs.?
