Australia Anticipating Increase in Wool Production

November 15, 2004

November 2004 -- Wool production in Victoria, Australia, is expected to rise by 4.7 percent in 2004-2005, reports Age Australia.

The grower-owned Australian Wool Innovation is estimating that Victoria?s shorn wool output will rise to 214 million lbs. An expected national increase of 4.1 percent will bring Australian production up to more than 1.1 billion lbs. of wool.

Production rises are being attributed to the easing of the drought and the over-all rebuilding of the flock. Wool production in Australia has trended downward since the early 1990s.
