A Modesto, Calif., company wants to build a large multi-species processing complex in Lyon County, Nev., that could eventually employ 700 people and process cattle, hogs, sheep and goats, including some kosher products, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
A representative of Lassen Meat Processing, LLC, proposed a facility at a recent Lyon County Commissioners' meeting that could have the eventual capacity to process 2,500 head of cattle, 5,000 hogs, 1,250 sheep and 1,250 goats per day. Discussions with the commissioners about zoning law revisions and necessary special use permits are continuing.
