The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the nomination period for solicitation of directors to the American Lamb Board (ALB) for next year. Two positions held by sheep producers are up for appointment next year: one for a producer who owns 100 head or less annually and one for a producer who owns more than 500 head annually.
The two producer-director positions for which nominations are needed include those of David Trotter (Ind.) and Leo Tammi (Va.). Tammi represents producers who own more than 500 head annually and is eligible to be re-nominated to the board. Trotter represents producers with 100 head or less annually. Trotter is term limited so cannot be re-nominated to the board.
The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) will be nominating a slate of producers to the secretary of agriculture for appointment to the board. Nominees for both positions may be from either the eastern or western region of the United States.
Those interested in being considered as producer nominees to this board should contact their state sheep producer association, ASI director or regional representative. Applications must be received at the ASI office by April 15.
