The International Wool Textile Organization (IWTO) could successfully intervene in another instance of heavy misuse of the expression "wool," in which the German company Ahlers GmbH had named and promoted its Pierre Cardin trousers collection with the name "Casual Wool" when the trousers are made from 100-percent synthetic materials.
As a result of action taken by IWTO, Ahlers has announced in an official letter that it will withdraw all labels from the remaining trousers and rename the collection.
Ahlers GmbH, traditionally a heavy user of wool, has officially apologized to IWTO about the misuse and regrets the mistake made by its marketing department. Ahlers further stated that it is currently increasing its efforts to including more wool into its collections and is happy to stay in close contact with IWTO and its member organizations.
