Oregon Shepherd, a manufacturer of natural wool and home insulation, announced its new PermaBatt® line of sheep wool insulation products. PermaBatt® is a natural insulation for walls and other framing in the home.
"As homeowners and businesses alike look towards alternative ways to tap into our country's renewable resources, natural wool is becoming the insulation of choice for many," stated Bob Workman, general manager at Oregon Shepherd.
Oregon Shepherd, LLC was formed in 2003 by Oregon sheep producers Joel Pynch and Margaret Magruder with the specific goal of expanding traditional markets for natural wool products. Several years later, they invested in the plant and equipment to manufacture wool insulation for the U.S. market.
Two end products are produced by the company - PermaLoft®, a blown-in insulation for horizontal spaces, and PermaBatt®, a hand placed or blown-in product for vertical surfaces. Installing wool insulation gives home owners many advantages over traditional options. Wool provides superior breathability, improved indoor air quality and is non-allergenic. The fibers natural characteristics help the insulation retain its loft, make it moisture absorbent, is fire resistant and offers a sustainable and renewable option.
