Indiana State Fair Shearing Contest Results

The Indiana State Fair Sheep Shearing contest was held Aug. 17 in Indianapolis, Ind. Eighteen professional shearers from eight states competed in the contest. Each contestant sheared three sheep in the preliminary and semi-final rounds and four sheep in the final round.
Loren Opstedahl of Piedmont, S.D., won first place and $400 in the professional division. Kevin Hickman of Humansville, Mo., earned second place and $275.00, Nolan Able of Royal, Ia., secured third place and $250.00 and Alex Moser of Steen, Minn., claimed fourth place and $225.00.
