MPR Meetings Continue

June 25, 2010

Representatives of the livestock industry, the meat packers and various agriculture trade associations met with the staffs of Reps. Colin Peterson (Minn.) and Frank Lucas (Okla.), chair and ranking member, respectively, of the House Agriculture Committee, to discuss reauthorizing Mandatory Price Reporting (MPR). The authorization to report pricing expires at the end of September if no action is taken.

The American Sheep Industry Association was joined by national cattle, pork, general agriculture and meat organizations while meeting with congressional committee staff regarding the reauthorization of MPR. The groups plan to continue discussions next week.
