The U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command Contracting Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, Mass., intends to award a firm fixed-price purchase order to CM Design Studio, L.L.C. of New York, N.Y., to provide 3,000 winter mock-turtleneck shirts to the U.S. Coast Guard for the winter of 2010-2011. Production needs to be completed by September to stock shelves and meet order demands.
CM Design previously manufactured this shirt passing product data management testing and first article testing. It also possesses all past patterns and specifications and has an exceptional record for previously developing and producing this shirt.
The new Coast Guard garment was developed using a fabric consisting of a unique blend of 50 percent wool and 50 percent primaloft, a micro fiber produced by Albany International. The American Sheep Industry Association coordinated the development of this fabric with mill partners Albany International and Alamac American Knits.
This is the first production order for this new garment. A follow up for up to 20,000 shirts is expected during fiscal year 2011.
