The American Sheep Industry Association through its Lamb Council is hosting a lamb ultrasound training and certification program on June 7-8 in Ames, Iowa. The educational session will begin at 1 p.m. on Monday and will be lead by Scott Greiner of Virginia Tech.
There will be three ways to certify technicians: assuring acceptable images are being forwarded to processing labs, helping scanners collect and trace their own images to certify, and certifying processing labs by sending a set of images to trace.
The cost to certify an individual technician will be $200; processing labs will be charged $750 for as many technicians as it chooses to send. The registration deadline is May 28 and will be limited to 20 scanners. To register, contact Dan Morrical, Ph.D., at 515-294-2904 or at
morrical@iastate.edu. Checks can be made payable to Iowa State University. Attendees sending ultrasound equipment to the training site should also contact Morrical for direction.
