Superb Weather Brings Record Attendance to Lamb BBQ

May 7, 2010

American lamb chops were at the center of the plate for the 2010 American Lamb Barbecue held in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday evening. The venue was filled to capacity as more than 200 guests and industry leaders dined on a menu featuring flavorful American lamb loin chops prepared to perfection.

As tradition has it, Rick and Larry Meyers and Fran Boyd, of Meyers and Associates, took charge of the grills to prepare the lamb that was generously donated by Mountain States Rosen.

Honored guests included Sen. Barrasso (Wyo.); Rep. Harry Teague (N.M.); Edward Avalos, under secretary for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Marketing and Regulatory Services; John Clifford, DVM, deputy administrator, USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) Veterinary Services; Bill Clay, deputy administrator for APHIS Wildlife Services (WS); Martin Mendoza, associate deputy administrator for APHIS WS; and Bud Cribley, deputy to the assistant director of Bureau of Land Management's Renewable Resources and Planning.
