March 20 is National Ag Day

March 19, 2010

Each year, on the first day of spring, the country celebrates National Agriculture Day. The theme for National Ag Day, which will be celebrated on March 20, is "American Agriculture: Abundant. Affordable. AMAZING."

Ag Day was created to recognize and celebrate the contribution of agriculture in our everyday lives and to help others understand how food and fiber products are produced. It was also designed to help appreciate the role agriculture plays in providing safe, abundant and affordable products.

During National Ag Week, March 14-20, 2010, activities were held across the nation to educate Americans, particularly young people, of the importance of American agriculture. Other high-profile events were held in Washington, D.C., to highlight agriculture's impact among legislators and other leaders.
