
July 10-11, 2010, are the dates for the Breeding Sheep for a More Profitable Flock workshop being held at the Riverwood Farms in Powell, Ohio.
This comprehensive seminar will focus on defining and selecting traits that can increase profits in sheep production. The advantages of crossbreeding systems and the evaluation of sheep breeds and their contribution to the commercial industry will be addressed. Genetics for production systems ranging from grain based to total grass as well as marketing goals from selling roaster lambs to 140-pound finished lambs will be included in the discussions.
The conference in being sponsored by the American Sheep Industry Association's (ASI) Genetics Stakeholders Committee, the Ohio Sheep Improvement Association, the Ohio Sheep and Wool Board, The Ohio State University (OSU) and the OSU Department of Animal Sciences.
