Campbell and Walters will Receive Wool Award

January 8, 2010

Two members of the U.S. wool industry will be recognized for their years of service during the Wool Excellence Awards Lunch at the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI)/National Lamb Feeders Association Convention on Jan. 21, 2010. Fred Campbell of Paint Rock, Texas, and Jim Walters of McMinnville, Ore., are the two recipients of this year's wool award.

"Fred and Jim have both made many contributions to improve the overall wool industry and made numerous positive impressions on me while working with them," explained Rita Kourlis Samuelson, ASI wool marketing director. "This event is carried out in a toast-type fashion, allowing attendees the opportunity to say a few words about the deserving recipients. We understand that not everyone will be able to attend the lunch in Nashville, so we wanted to extend the opportunity for those of you who know and have worked with Fred and Jim to send your comments to ASI in advance of the event for them to be read during the lunch."

Letters of thanks, stories of the past and comments about interactions can all be submitted by emailing Samuelson at rita@sheepusa.org. All remarks received on or before Wednesday, Jan. 20, will be read at the event or given to the recipients for their enjoyment.
