A doctor in New Jersey has been recognized for her work in using non-toxic materials to makeover her medical practice, including wool carpet.
In addition to her "exceptional healthcare", Jennifer Ashton, DVM, has been presented with an award for Outstanding Service to her Englewood Cliffs community after opening the first eco-friendly medical center in the state. Despite being housed in an historic clock tower building, the center boasts state-of-the-art materials, with the 100-percent wool carpet both non-toxic and pleasing to the look and to the touch.
At the same time, cork flooring has been used in the examination rooms, again so as to improve the building's eco-footprint and cut back on toxicity, while furniture such as cabinets and tables have been crafted from recycled glass and sustainable wood.
