Biggest Myths About H1N1

An article from Prevention magazine, featured on MSN.com today, lists the seven biggest myths about H1N1 influenza. Thing is, it failed to mention the biggest myth of all - that the virus is spread by pigs. The article lists the following seven misperceptions, with explanations and advice for prevention:

  • Swine flu is much worse than seasonal flu.
  • Young, healthy people should not worry.
  • The flu vaccine can cause the flu.
  • It is better to get the flu than get vaccinated.
  • If you get swine flu, go to the ER.
  • Masks keep you safe.
  • Go back to work once you feel better.
