Agencies Agree on Conservation Rules

July 24, 2009
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reached agreement with the Office of Management and Budget on the rules for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) and will hold a sign-up for the program in August, a senior USDA official said on Monday.

The CSP, written into the 2008 Farm Bill, will pay farmers for increasing their level of conservation practices, maintaining existing conservation activities and adopting resource-conserving crop rotations.

Additional program details are available at www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/farmbill/2008/pdfs/CSP_At_A_Glance_062608final.pdf.
