House Ag Appropriations Mark Up Begins

The U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Appropriations Committee late Thursday evening completed its work on the fiscal year 2010 (FY10) Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies appropriations bill. The committees completed bill is expected to be on the floor of the House late next week.

This bill appropriates $22.9 billion for FY10, which is a $79,000 increase to the President's request and a $2.3 billion increase from the FY09 bill.

Funding for the U.S. Department of Agricultures Wildlife Services program is $73.7 million for operations and $16.1 million for methods and development, a slight reduction from FY09 levels.
