July 15, 2004 --
Meat and Wool New Zealand, a combination of the former Meat Board and the remnants of the deregulated Wool Board, is set to start operations July 1, reports the New Zealand Herald.
Cros Spooner, acting chief executive, said a parliamentary select committee has recommended only a few amendments to the proposed enabling legislation.
The July 1 start date will allow for meat levy collections under the Commodities Levy Act and for wool levy collections as well.
