Obama's Energy and Natural Resources Team

November 21, 2008 - President-elect Barack Obama's transition team for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), led by Bart Chilton and Carole Jett, set up shop at the agency this week.

Other members of the team include Douglas Jake Caldwell, trade and environment project manager at the National Wildlife Federation; David Lazarus, deputy national rural vote director for the Obama-Biden campaign and former legislative assistant to Sen. Richard Durbin (Ill.); Mary McNeil, a member of Nebraska's Winnebago Tribe who was USDA director of native American programs in the 1990s; Karen Stuck, who retired last year as assistant administrator for international affairs at USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS); Michael Taylor, research professor of health policy at George Washington University, formerly deputy commissioner at the Food and Drug Administration, FSIS administrator and acting under secretary for food safety at USDA and vice president for public policy at Monsanto; Dallas Tonsager, member of the Farm Credit Administration Board, former executive director of the South Dakota Value-Added Agriculture Development Center, USDA state rural development director in South Dakota and past president of the South Dakota Farmers Union; and Christopher Wood, chief operating officer at Trout Unlimited, Arlington, Va., senior policy and communications advisor to Forest Service Chief Michael Dombeck during the Clinton Administration.
