ASI Continues Work on Ewe-Lamb Retention Program

June 15, 2004

June 2004 -- The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) continues to work with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farm Service Agency (FSA) on the availability of the application form and payment process for the 2004 ewe-lamb retention program.

In January, Under Secretary Bill Hawks responded to ASI's request and announced the Bush Administration's approval of a one-year extension on the retained ewe-lamb program. This $18.85 million program, secured by ASI, is designed to assist sheep producers in stabilizing the U.S. sheep breeding herd.

Many producers have already contacted local FSA offices for information regarding the availability of application forms.
