Three Town Hall meetings have been announced for interested parties to provide advice and recommendations to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA) regarding regulations that the 2008 Farm Bill requires GIPSA to disseminate.
The meetings will be held on Oct. 14, in Van Buren, Ark.; Oct. 16, in Ames, Iowa; and Oct. 22, in Gainesville, Ga. All meetings will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The purpose of these meetings is to gather information and recommendations from interested individuals and organizations regarding the circulation of regulations concerning livestock and poultry production contracts, including swine production contracts and poultry growing arrangements as required by the Farm Bill. Existing problems, possible obstacles and potential solutions that would help GIPSA in the development of the regulations will be discussed.
