April 4, 2008
April 4, 2008 - The 2008 Maryland-Delaware Beginner's Sheep Shearing School held last month marked a monumental year for one of its instructors. David Greene (Md.) was honored for having taught at the shearing school for 50 years.
Greene has been active in the sheep industry from the local level to the state and national levels. He spent 27 years as Carroll County's cooperative extension agent. David and his wife, Nancy, now run a direct-marketing meat business, a sheep-breeding business and stay active with the state's 4-H program by allowing kids to adopt lambs to show at the fair.
Each year, approximately 25 people participate in the beginners' shearing school.
