FSA Accepting LDP Requests

January 18, 2008

January 18, 2008 - This week, country Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices were notified that the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008 that was signed by the President authorizes Marketing Assistance Loans (MAL) and Loan Deficiency Programs (LDP) for the 2008 crops of graded and ungraded wool, mohair and unshorn pelts through March 15, 2008. FSA offices are now authorized to accept 2008 crop MAL and LDP requests through this date.

If wool, mohair and unshorn pelt producers have lost beneficial interest before issuance of this notice on Jan. 15, 2008, in the 2008 crop of wool, mohair and unshorn pelts, county offices will use the LDP rate in effect on the date beneficial interest was considered lost.

Producers must sign a new CCC-633 EZ form for 2008 to be eligible to take out loan or LDPs. Producers should contract the local FSA office with additional questions.
